The Merchants Guild

This Merchants Guild was set up to regulate trading in Errin. It encompasses many people from street traders to large shipping companies and the farming industry. The guild holds a lot of wealth in terms of land holdings within Brenna, and in gold. The king taxes a lot of this wealth for the running of the kingdom and in return lets the Guild advise and influence him on some matters.

The Guild is currently headed by the Sasha Devast, the daughter of Baron Devast. The Devast family has successfully petitioned the King on several occasions for increased money and manpower for the upkeep and policing of the King's highways, particularly out in the Northern Reaches, where the territory is difficult, and cross-country travel can take many days.

Along with ensuring that street traders and companies are practicing fair trade, the Guild has a vested interest in private sales between individuals such as adventurers: one of the Guilds tasks is to prevent private sales from undercutting traders, since the latter have to make a living from trade.
